Application of hot-formed sheet steel to front cross member of vehicle

Abstract:

The structure of front cross member of a vehicle was analyzed and studied.It is concluded that there are two methods based on the vehicle structure at present.An appropriate structure design was carried out with two materials respectively aimed at the two methods of double structure and veneer structure,and then a crash performance test and CAE analysis were conducted.The test results indicate that the front cross member designed with hot-formed sheet steel BTR165 that compares to the double structure with common steel B340/590 can not only improve crash safety performance,but also reduce the vehicle weight.For this reason,it has an important significance in practical application.
