Multi-degree-of-freedom piezoelectric motor using single plate type vibrator

Abstract:

Theoretical design and experiment were presented for a proposed plate type multi-degree-of-freedom piezoelectric motor.Based on beam function combination method,the formula for calculating the working modal frequency of the piezoelectric motor was given out;and the principle to determine the spacing of the protrusions which arranged on the surface of the piezoelectric vibrator was provided.The criterion for designing the dimensions of the protrusions was offered,that is the dimensions of the protrusions should be set to make the bending vibration frequency of the protrusions in accordance with the entire vibration frequency of the piezoelectric vibrator.According to design theory,a prototype was fabricated to detect the kinematics performance of the piezoelectric motor.Experimental results show that the numerical results of modal frequencies of the motor indicate good agreement with the experimental one;and the rotation speed around an axial along the length direction of the rectangular piezoelectric vibrator of the motor is 45.6 r/min under 90 V drive voltage and excitation frequency of 45 kHz.
