Optimization of slanting surfaces of five-sided pyramidal full tensor magnetic gradient probe

Abstract: This paper presents a optimization method of slanting surfaces of a five-sided pyramidal probe based on quantified relations between the relative resolution of each magnetic gradient tensor's independent component and inclination of the probe. The optimal inclination was chosen on the basis of the range and maximum value of the five relative resolutions of the independent components. Finally, simulation results quantify the influence of surface tilt error on the measurement results, and identify the processing accuracy of the probe.
