Nano-mechanical properties and finite element analysis of abalone shell

Abstract: We test the moduli and hardness on the cross section and longitudinal section of the abalone shell by nano-indentation and set up the finite element model, then simulated and analyzed.The results show that elastic modulus and hardness value of abalone shell are increasing from the ineer to the outer on transverse and longitudinal direction.
