Abstract: Objective To study the reproductive and developmental toxicities of methylmercury (MeHg) on male mice. Methods The dominant lethal test and the sperm abnormalities test were used to study the reproductive and developmental toxicities of MeHg on male mice. Results Different doses of MeHg could decrease the ratio of mating of male mice and the fertilization of female mice. The fertilization rate of 1/10 LD50 group was 70.8%, and it had no significant difference compared with the control group (P>0.05). Living fetus per litter, the mean nidation fetus and the amount of offspring were reduced by the increase of MeHg, and there were significant differences between experimental and control groups (P<0.05); It was observed that different MeHg exposure doses could also increase the sperm abnormalities rate and there were significant differences between all the experimental and control groups (P<0.01) except between 1/50 LD50 and 1/10 LD50 groups. Conclusion MeHg can cause the reproductive and developmental toxicities on male mice.
