Meta-analysis on status and features of psychological resilience in Chinese college students

Abstract:

Abstract:Objective To systematically review the total status and various features of psychological resilience in the Chinese college students,and to provide basis for specificating  research methods of psychological resilience.Methods The studies published before September 12,2013 were searched in Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CBMdisc),VIP database,CNKI database,Wanfang database,PubMed and Embase database.The cross-sectional studies about the status of psychological resilience in the college students were included.Two reviewers performed screening,quality assessment and data extraction independently,and reached a consensus after cross-check and discussion.Meta-analysis was conducted with RevMan 5.1 in the   college students with different genders,grades,majors,residences and only-child or not. Results A total of 31 studies with 19 285 college students were included in the analysis.The status of psychological resilience was at a good level.The Meta-analysis results showed the psychological resilience score  of the boys  was higher  than that of  the girls[OR(95%CI):0.11(0.03,0.19),P<0.05],the psychological resilience score of the freshmen was higher than that of    the seniors[OR(95%CI): 0.19(0.09,0.30),P<0.05],the psychological resilience score of the students in the major of natural science was higher than that of the students  in social science[OR(95%CI):-0.13(-0.20,-0.06),P<0.05],the psychological resilience score of  the urban college students was higher than that of the  rural ones[OR(95%CI): 0.12(0.02,0.21),P<0.05],and the psychological resilence sore of the non-only-child college students was higher than that of  only-child ones [OR(95%CI):-0.09(-0.17,0.00),P<0.05]. Conclusion The differences of psychological resilience exists in the college students in Chinese.
