Abstract:

Abstract:Objective To investigate the genetic association between the polymorphisms of PLA2G4B gene and schizophrenia in the North Han Chinese population. Methods The method of PCR-based ligase detection reaction (PCR-LDR) was applied to detect the genotype single nucleotide polymorphisms of rs3816533 in PLA2G4B gene among 201 pedigrees consisting of fathers, mothers and affected offsprings with schizophrenia. Haplotype relative risk (HRR) test and transmission disequilibrium test (TDT) were conducted to analyze the genotyping data. Results The genotypic frequency of rs3816533 of PLA2G4B gene did not deviate from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium in both case and control groups. HRR analysis did not show allelic association with the PLA2G4B gene (χ2 = 0.840,P>0.05);TDT analysis did not show preferential transmission of the two alleles(χ2 = 0.818,P>0.05).  Conclusion  There is no genetic association between the polymorphism of rs3816533 site on  PLA2G4B gene  and schizophrenia in Han population from the north of China.
