Abstract:

Abstract:Objective To investigate the interference effects of puerarin on multitude brain regions, which contains cortex, cerebellum, hippocampus and striatum of acute alcoholism rats,by detecting the contents of  superoxide dismutase(SOD),malondialdehyde (MDA) and glutamate (Glu) in rat brain and  the praxiological changes after administration with ethanol and puerarin. Methods Male SD rats were randomly divided into control group, alcoholism groups (high dose group, middle dose group and low dose group),and puerarin group(the rats were treated with middle dose alcoholism). The contents of SOD,MDA,Glu  and the rodduration were detected. Results Compared with control group, the contents of SOD and Glu in alcoholism groups were reduced, while the MDA was increased. The contents of SOD and MDA changed in  dose-dependent manner. The rodduration in alcoholism groups was significantly shorter than that in control group (P<0.05 or P<0.01).Compared with alcoholism groups, the rodduration in puerarin group became longer, the contents of SOD and Glu were increased, the content of MDA was reduced(P<0.05 or  P<0.01),and the most significant changes were found at hippocampus among the four brain regions. Conclusion  Puerarin has interference effects on oxygen free radical and Glu in brain  of acute alcoholism rats, and it exhibites a regulatory effect on praxiology of acute alcoholism rats.
