A case report of gout arthritis in second metatarsophalangeal joint complicated with congenital brachydactyly

Abstract:

Objective: To report a case of gout arthritis in the second metatarsophalangeal joint complicated with congenital brachydactyly,and to discuss the diagnosis and treatment conditions. Methods: One male patient aged 17 years old manifested as repeated pain and swelling in the second metatarsophalangeal joint for 6 months. The diagnosis result showed gout arthritis in the second metatarsophalangeal joint complicated with congenital brachydactyly. Gout stone excision and arthroplasty were performed to relieve the symptoms. Results: The patient recovered without complications.The pain disappeared postoperatively.The patient returned to the normal walking function. Conclusion: The gout and congenital brachydactyly can be presented in one patient.Differential diagnosis is essential for the case,and the surgical excision is curative.
