Simulation of stratified charge combustion of GDI engine

Abstract: In this paper, a 3D CFD model of the combustion process inside the cylinder of GDI engine is established and simulation is carried out to analyze the effects of the injection phase and ignition phase on the stratified charge combustion of the engine. The method of indicator diagram is adopted to compare the experimental results with the simulation results, which are in good consistence. By comparing the effects of the injection phase and ignition phase on the stratified charge combustion process and emission, the best fuel injection phase and ignition phase are obtained under specified condition. The method can also be used to calibrate the best injection phase and ignition under other conditions.
