Structure unsymmetry effect on tire mechanical behavior modeling

Abstract: Tire structure unsymmetry results in conicity and ply-steering, and has significant influence on tire mechanical behavior. Taking the tire conicity and ply-steering into account is very important to develope tire empirical or semi-empirical model from tire experimental data. In this paper, the effects of conicity and ply-steering on tire force and moment characteristics were investigated in detail, the concept of equivalent slip and camber angles were introduced, and corresponding identification procedure was presented. It is concluded that introduction of the effective input of tire model is the reasonable approach to consider structure unsymmetry effect on tire modeling.
