Matched filter algorithm for recognition of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing based system

Abstract: As the correlation-based estimation algorithm has poor performance when CP length is short, a novel Matched Filter based algorithm is proposed. The signal recognition is realized by estimating the inter-carrier spacing because that this parameter varies in different Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) based standards. First, the signal model is presented. Then the proposed algorithm is characterized in details. The effects of both frequency and time offsets on the algorithm are analyzed. To resolve the high complexity in parameter searching process, particle swarm optimization algorithm is introduced for simplification. Simulation results show that the matched filter algorithm has higher detection rate and better performance under multi-path channels compared with the correlation-based estimation algorithm.
