Control strategy for regenerative braking for four-wheel-drive electric vehicle

Abstract: To increase the continuous driving mileage of four in-wheel-motor driving vehicles a control strategy of regenerative braking was proposed based on the analysis of ideal braking force distribution of traditional vehicle. In this strategy, the distribution of braking force and the characteristics of the in-wheel motors are taken into consideration. Under the condition of safe braking performance, the braking force was distributed to the four wheels to recover more energy during braking process. A simulation model was built up using the software CarSim and Matlab/Simulink. Simulation results show that using the proposed control strategy the electric vehicle can efficiently distribute the braking force and recover braking energy.
