Surface modification of 45# steel by high-current pulsed electron beam

Abstract: The surface modification of 45# steel bombarded by high-current pulsed electron beam was studied and microstructure and surface modification were analysed and discussed. Experimental results show that microstructure of near-surface layers can be divided into four zones along the direction of electric beam: the white layer or melted layer (3~10μm), the heat effecting zone (10~50μm), stress effecting zone (50~250μm) and matrix (after 250μm).The microhardness increases with increasing of bombardment times,abrasion resistance property is enhanced by increasing of the bombardment times.
