Subjective evaluation test of influence of color on vehicle interior sound quality

Abstract: Five pictures of auto-inner ornament with different colors are taken and presented on a liquid crystal screen as visual stimuli. Five in-vehicle noise samples are acquired from five types of car under different conditions as evaluation objects. "Luxury" and "Sporty" are taken as the subjective indexes. First, semantic differential experiments are conducted to evaluate ten hearing characteristics of 25 groups of audio-visual combination. Then the subjective evaluation results of sound quality are comprehensively evaluated using the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) based on entropy weight. The results show a tendency to consider "blue" as the strongest "luxury" color and "orange" as the weakest "luxury" color; "red" as the strongest "sporty" color and "pink" as the weakest "sporty" color. Statistic results show that colors as the visual stimuli can improve the sound quality of vehicle-interior.
