Abstract:

Objective To evaluate the effect of penetrating resin treatment on the elder patients with secondary dentin sensitivity following tooth abrasion, and to clarify its function principle. Methods 40 subjects were randomly divided into control and experimental groups(n=20),and the patients in experimental group were treated with icon penetrating resin, and the patients in control group were treated with 3M adper easy oneself-etching adhesives. The visual analogue scale(VAS) method was used to evaluate the VAS scores of teeth of the patients in two groups at different periods, such as before treatment, right after treatment,1 month after treatment and 3 month after treatment. The osmosis of resin for dentin tubule was observed by scanning electron microscope in vitro. Results Compared with before treatment, the VAS scores of the patiants in two groups 1 month after treatment and 3 months after treatment were significantly decreased(P<0.05).Compared with control group, the VAS scores of the patients in experiment group 1 month after treatment and 3 months after treatment were decreased(P<0.05).The scanning electron microscope results showed that the penetrating resin formed a close in the tooth surface and penetrated in the dentin tubule. Conclusion Penetrating resin can be used as the dentin sensitivity treatment in the elderly, and it has apparent effect.
