A Criterion to Discover Stable Swirl Formation Interface of Induction Swirl of Diesel Engine

Abstract: Through the analysis of the in cylinder angular momentum flux(AMF),a new criterion,i.e.angular momentum flux criterion is proposed for predicting the emergence of stable swirl formation interface.Stable swirl formation interface exists when the main swirl angular momentum flux is nearly equal to the in cylinder air total angular momentum flux.In-cylinder swirl formation in a 4-valve diesel engine was investigated by this criterion.
