Effect of turbo-charger parameters on smoke emission from an automotive diesel engine under transient operating conditions

Abstract: In order to improve automotive diesel engine smoke emission under transient operating conditions, effect of two kinds of turbo-chargers GT35 and TBP4 on smoke emission was investigated. Results show that diesel engine smoke emission is improved with turbo-charger GT35, especially under low speed-increasing torque and heavy load-increasing speed transient operating conditions. Under other transient operating conditions, transient smoke emission of engine with turbo-charger GT35 are lower than those with turbo-chargerTBP4. But air/fuel ratio, torque and fuel consumption parameters of turbo-charger GT35 are inferior to those of turbo-charger TBP4 under high speed-full load operating conditions.
