Cymbal piezoelectric generator system

Abstract:

A piezoelectric generator system with a cymbal transducer was built, a DC-DC energy-storage converter circuit was developed, and the performance of the piezoelectric generator was studied. The effects of duty cycle and inductance on the power generation performance of the system were investigated experimentally. The results showed that the duty cycle is an important parameter in the DC-DC converter circuit, and there is an optimal duty cycle for the maximum power output on the resistive load. The inductance in a certain range has little impact on the output voltage, but has rather obvious effect on the power output. The maximum power output of 10.5 mW can be obtained from the cymbal transducer with duty cycle 2% and inductance 1.5 mH.The power generated in the developed system is enough to supply power to MEMS, such as internet sensor or other low energy consumption electronic systems.
