Theoretical and experimental research of stiffness of angular contact ball bearing

Abstract: The geometry of contact deformation for the rolling elements of angular contact ball bearing was described by coordinate transformation method. The analytical expression for the stiffness of angular contact ball bearing was derived according to the Hertzian elastic contact theory. The influences of preload, contact angle, etc. on the bearing stiffness were analyzed theoretically. A test bench was developed to measure the bearing stiffness. The comparison was carried out between the theoretical analysis and the experimental results.The results show that the discrepancy between the theoretical calculation and test data was less than 10%, meeting the requirement of engineering calculation.
