Feeder bus network design under elastic demand

Abstract:

Considering the feeder bus demand varies with the progress of feeder bus network, the feeder bus network design problem under elastic demand was investigated and its design flow chart was presented. The Logic model was introduced to analyze the selection behavior of the passenger on feeder bus traffic, a mathematical model was proposed to take the maximization of the number of feeder bus passengers and the minimization of the passenger fares as the targets. The genetic algorithm was used to solve the model. A case example gave the sensitivity analysis on the available fleet size, and demonstrated the validity of the proposed model and algorithm. The results show that the feeder bus route and timetable should be optimized simultaneously, and the available fleet size should be determined based on actual need.
