Emission reduction shift control strategy in coldstart of auto-transmission vehicle

Abstract: To solve the problem of high emission in coldstart process of auto-transmission vehicle, the vehicle coldstart condition, idle braking and starting acceleration conditions were investigated. Then, a engine warm up recognition strategy to judge the vehicle coldstart, and a neural control strategy to reduce idle emission were proposed. Also the strategy to keep first gear in coldstart to increase the air intake and fuel injection was proposed to accelerate the catalytic ignition. This method was tested in emission laboratory. Results show that the catalyst can accelerate the light-off, and the emission in coldstart process is significantly reduced.
