Optimum design and experiment for CFRPstrengthened RC beams

Abstract: The calculating method of strengthened CFRP area was deduced, and the optimization model of strengthened CFRP area for RC beams was built and the confinement conditions was determined. The optimized CFRP area and the corresponding ultimate bearing force was solved with the computational program compiled by optimum toolbox in MATLAB. 4 CFRP strengthened RC beams were fabricated and the theoretical calculated value has been proved by the measured results of the flexural tests.
