Abstract ( 201 )
A lattice Boltzmann scheme for the distribution of the displacements in the Beltrami flow is proposed. The concept of Beltrami vertex flow is used to find the structures of the fluid velocities. As a numerical example, we simulated the Arnold-Beltrami-Chidress solution of the Beltrami flow by using the lattice Boltzmann method.

Influence of Interface Electrons Transfer on Conductivity of Nanometer TiO2 Thin Films
GU Guang-rui, HE Zhi, LI Ying-ai, ZHANG Chong-cai,LI Wei-qing, YIN Hong, ZHAO Yong-nian
J4. 2002, 40 (03):  273-275.
Abstract ( 273 )
The present paper presents the dependence of the conduc tivity of TiO2 thin films on the different substrates and on the thick ness of the films. It was found that the resistivity of the TiO2 thin films de posited on Ti and Si substrates increased non-linearly with the increase of the thickness of the films and varied in the range from conductor or semiconductor to nonconductor, respectively. The conducting layer thickness of the films deposited on diff erent substarte materials is different and the films deposited on glass are nonc onductors. This is attributed to interface electrons transfer, and the conducting layer thickness is determined by the work function difference between substrates and thin films.

Calculation of Third Order Optical Nonlinear Susceptibilityof Two-dimensional Composites with Fractal Geometry
XU Tie-jun, ZHANG Cheng-xiang
J4. 2002, 40 (03):  276-279.
Abstract ( 261 )
By means of the Fourier expansion technique and the decoupling approximation, the frequency dependence of the third order optical nonlinear susceptibility χe of composites with fractal geometry was ca lculated. The results show that obvious enhancement peaks occur in the Re(χe)-ω curves at particular frequencies. Compared with the composites in which the inclusions were arranged in a periodic square lattice, when the fractal clusters of the inclusions were formed, the enhancement peak occurred in the case of periodic lattice was weakened, and new enhancement peaks occurred. The results also show that the intensities of the enhancement peaks were sensitively dependent on the characteristic relaxation time τ.

GONG Jie, WANG Chun-zhong, YANG Jing-hai, WANG Ya-xin, ZONG Zhan-guo
J4. 2002, 40 (03):  280-283.
Abstract ( 207 )
We have found a new synthesizing method by means of studying the effects of the synthesizing conditions on the structures of LiNiO 2 and LiAlO2, respectively, and successfully synthesized Al doped LiN i1xAlxO2(x=0~1.0) solids solutions. T he sintering experimental results show that the samples with low Al content must be synthesized in the oxygen atmosphere. Al doping can not only inhibit the lithium deficiency but decrease the forming temperature of the products and their dependency on oxygen during synthesizing them. From XRD results we found out that all the samples crystallized in the α-NaFeO2 structure. The lattice parameters change with incr easing Alcontentviz axis a is shortened, larger the c/a ratio is increased and crystal volume V0 is decreased. These changes show that the syn thesized samples well crystallized in the layer structure.

J4. 2002, 40 (03):  290-293.
Abstract ( 285 )
The frequency domain profiles of DANTE pulse sequence are calculated according to the analytical solutions of Bloch equations. The results show that the first and the last pulses of pulse sequence show the biggest e ffects on the side band. If the widths of the first and the last pulses are redu ced to one half, the side band can be suppressed to a great extent. The correspo nding experimental results coincide well with the above conclusion.

Furthermore, the optical fiber gra tings packaged in this way show the features of smaller volume, lighter weight a nd practice. This technique is simple and can be applicable in fiber communicati on systems.

Rheological Property and Alkali-thickening Mechanism of the Latex System Containing Carboxyl Groups
HAN Zhao-rang, LIU Feng-qi, GAO Ge, YANG Bai, CHENG Li-li, TANG Xin-yi, HUANG Li, LIU Yi, SHI Ying
J4. 2002, 40 (03):  298-302.
Abstract ( 1368 )
On the basis of rheological experimental results, we analyzed the rhe ological mechanism of the latex system. The viscosity mechanism of a common hard -sphere latex particle system is considered to be related to the hydrophilicit y of the polymer chain. The stronger the hydrophilicity is, the higher the viscosity is. In the acid medium, the viscosity mechanism of the system of latex particl es containing carboxyl is the same with that of the common hard sphere latex sys tem. But in the alkali medium, the system of latex containing carboxyl appears an a lkali-thickening phenomenon. So the alkali-thickening mechanism has been consi der ed to be attributed to the bridge-structure formed from the hydrogen bonds of the particles. This opinion is different from the early deduction “from th e swell to the solution of the latex particle”.

Abstract ( 1282 )
Pb and Cd adsorption on the surface coatings in the pH range from 4. 5 to 7.0, which were cultivated in a reed pond in Xianghai, was carried out. The data of Pb and Cd adsorption on the surface coatings fit both Freundlich and Langmuir isoth erms very well (n=5, p=0.01), and the maximum adsorption of Pb on the su rface co atings is one order of magnitude greater than that of Cd. Meanwhile, the maxim um adsorption of Pb and Cd on the surface coatings increases with increase of pH i n the solutions, showing significant linear correlation.

Abstract ( 1099 )
Freshwater surface coatings were collected in Jingyuetan Lake, Jilin Province for the measurement of Pb and Cd released by the surface c oatings after adsorption. Double-constant rate equation and Elovich equation wer e employed as models to describe time-varying release of Pb and Cd adsorbed by t he surface coatings in laboratory. The results indicated that the rate of Cd rel ease by the surface coatings was greater than that of Pb with 10% of Pb and 60% of Cd released to solutions near equilibrium, respectively.

WANG Shu-juan, TAO Ke-yi
J4. 2002, 40 (03):  320-323.
Abstract ( 1163 )
The synthesis of methylal from methanol and methanal over different types of molecular sieves was studied. A batch reactor was employed. In a molar ratio of 1∶2 of methanal to methanol and in the presence of 5%(mass fraction) the cata lyst, five sorts of catalysts (HZSM-5, HY, HM, Hβ and γ-Al2O 3) were tested at 30 ℃, among them, HZ SM-5 showed the best catalytic activity. HZSM-5 with 38∶1 of Si to Al and 4 of exchange degree was extremely effective for this reaction. The conversion rate of mathanal was 45% and the selectivity of methylal was 99%, both the conversion rate and the selectivity were reproducible after th e catalyst was reused for 20 times.
