Abstract: Abstract:Objective To explore the diagnostic value of integrated backsca tter (IBS) technique for carotid artery atherosclerosis (AS) in hyperlipemia patients .Methods The calibrated IBS (C-IBS, C-IBS=intima-media IBS-adventitia IBS) was used to detect the carotid intima-media in the different section in 51 normal controls and 98 patients with hyperlipemias. Results The C-IBS in hyperlipemia group was lower than that in normal control, there significant difference of C-IBS between carotid sinus artery( CSA) and internal carotid artery (ICA)(P<0.05), the C-IBS of common carotid artery(CCA) in hyperlipemia group was lower than that in normal control, but no significant differentce(P>0.05).In hyperlipemia group ,there were significant differences of C-IBS between CCA, CSA and ICA (P<0.05); and there were no significant differences of C-IBS between CSA and CCA, CSA and ICA (P>0.05). Conclusion IBS technigue can reflect the changes of tissue structure of vascular wall and provide a new ,no invasive and feasible method to evaluate AS early.
