Abstract:

Abstract:Objective To study the inhibitory effect of secoisolariciresinol diglusoside (SDG) on hyperplasia of prostate induced by testosterone in rats and  clarify itsmechanism. Methods Fifty male Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group, model groups, finasteride (1.0 mg·kg-1) group and  SDG (1.2 and 0.4g·kg-1) groups. The levels of NO,SOD,CAT,  TNF-α,bFGF and IL-8 in prostate tissues were detected by ELISA method. Results Compared with  control group, the levels of NO,SOD and CAT in prostate tissues of rats  in model group were decreased(P<0.01),and the levels of TNF-α,bFGF and IL-8  in model group were increased(P<0.01).Compared with  model group, the levels of SOD,CAT and NO  in SDG 1.2 g·kg-1  group were increased(P<0.01),and the levels of TNF-α,bFGF and IL-8  in  SDG 1.2 g·kg-1 group were decreased(P<0.01). Conclusion The mechanism of inhibitory effects of SDG on  hyperplasia of prostate induced by testosterone may be concerned with enhancing the activity of antioxidase, clearing away free radical and decreasing the levels of TNF-α,bFGF and IL-8 in rats.
