Abstract: Objective To study the β-catenin gene expression and inhibitory effects ondiffused malignant plural mesothelioma tissues. MethodsB NCI-H28 cell apoptosis was detected with the techniques of Annexin V and TUNEL.The inhibitory effect of β-catenin was observed with incubation in vitro. Results The cells transferring wild β-catenin(β-CAT-V5-FP)and mutant β-catenin (β-CAT-S37C-V5-FP)were increased signifcantly compared with blank carrier group. The β-catenin gene transferring carboxyl absent also resulted in apoptosis, but the apoptotic rate was lower than those of cells transferring wild β-catenin(β-CAT-V5-FP)and mutant β-catenin (β-CAT-S37C-V5-FP). Conclusion β-catenin gene can induce apoptosis on non-epithelioid tumor-diffused malignant plural mesothelioma.

Key words: β-catenin, apoptosis
