Abstract: Objective: To investigate the relationships between the expression of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) in the gastric cancer tissue and the clinicopathological parameters in the gastric cancer patients in China with Meta-analysis, and to provide the evidence-based medical evidence for the diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer. Methods: The literatures about the relationships between the positive expression rate of IGF-1 and the clinicopathological paramters in the gastric cancer patients were searched comprehensively in PubMed,China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Weipu Chinese Science and Technology Journal Database, Wanfang Database and China Biomedical Literature Database. Review Manager 5.2 software was used to conduct Meta analysis on the literatures that met the inclusion criteria. Results: There were 11 articles in the literatures were selected, including 993 cases in gastric cancer group and 601 cases in non-tumor gastric mucosal tissue control group. Meta-analysis showed the significant differences in the positive expression rates of IGF-1 between gastric cancer group and control group (OR=9.05, 95% CI:6.82-12.01), poorly differentiated gastric cancer group and moderately-highly differentiated group (OR=1.53, 95% CI:1.14-2.06), involving full-thickness group and unaffected full-thickness group (OR=0.16, 95% CI:0.09-0.28), lymph node metastasis group and non-lymph node metastasis group (OR=0.12, 95% CI:0.08-0.17),TNM stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ group and TNM stage Ⅰ-Ⅱ group (OR=0.21, 95% CI:0.13-0.33).Conclusion: The high expression of IGF-1 in gastric cancer tissue is closely related to the occurrence, development, invasion and metastasis of tumor in the gastric cancer patients in China. The abnormal expression of IGF-1 could be used as a risk factor for carcinogenesis of gastric mucosal cells and a valuable molecular biological marker for early diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer.
