Strength Analysis of Carbon Fiber Composite Flywheel Using FEM

Abstract: In this paper,analytic method and FEM are used to deal with strength analysis of carbon fiber composite rotor of integrated energy storage system considering the anisotropic character of carbon fiber composite material.The difference between the analytic method and FEM is demonstrated.The optimum idea is that the flywheel′s rotate speed can be improved to make the best use of the carbon fiber′s good property by using the shaft made of low density and elastic modulus material,or by adding elastic layer between shaft and flywheel.
