Abstract: From the fact that the quasi-static method has deficiency in the solution of the transient mass center of sloshing fluid and the corresponding vehicle rollover modelling, the solutions of the transient mass center of sloshing fluid in tanks with modified square and modified oval cross sections were improved, and the exact equations for the mass center in the tank with modified square cross section were derived. A new vehicle rollover model was built without uncommon and hard-to-get parameters, simplifying the solution of vehicle rollover threshold. Using the improved quasi-static method, the change of the vehicle rollover threshold with filling percent under conditions of constant cargo density and constant cargo mass was simulated by Matlab. The results showed that the improved quasi-static method can predict accurately the vehicle rollover threshold.
