Watermarking algorithm for halftone images by stochastic error diffusion

Abstract: A novel method to hide binary visual pattern in halftone images by stochastic error diffusion with the Jarvis kernel was proposed. When changing a continue tone image to a halftone image, a special technique to embed a binary image into the halftone image was used. To extract watermark in the halftone image, the image difference technology was applied. After the original halftone image and the halftone image with watermark were made difference, the hidden binary visual patterns will appear. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has good visual mode, and when the halftone image with the watermark is severely scratched, the detection algorithm can efficiently detect the watermark, which proves this proposed algorithm is robust to the scratching attack.
