Modeling of dynamic load for leaf spring

Abstract:

To establish an accurate leaf spring suspension model for vehicle dynamic simulation,deformation-dynamic load tests of leaf spring were conducted,and effects of loading amplitude and frequency on dynamic load were studied.The dynamic load is composed of static elastic force and dynamic dry friction,and the general model of leaf spring dynamic load was developed with the concept of force-control-damper dry friction.Comparison of model accuracy between the presented model and HSRI model was discussed based on processing dynamic loading test data.With investigation of the relation between dynamic parameter of the general model and deformation history,the leaf spring dynamic load model for vehicle dynamic simulation was derived and the model parameters were identified from test data.The results show that the presented model owns satisfactory expression accuracy for leaf spring dynamic load,and the separated model for leaf spring dry friction is suitable for vehicle multi-body modeling.
