Random-noise attenuation of seismic data by radial time-frequency peak filtering with adaptive window-length

Abstract: This paper presents a Radial Time-frequency Peak Filtering (R-TFPF) method with adaptive Window-length (WL), that the structure tensor is used to adjust the WL of R-TFPF. The proposed method can be applied to identify seismic events and noise, therefore, we are able to process the noise with long WL to suppress the random noise more effectively and reduce the signal distortion with short WL. The performance of the proposed method is evaluated using synthetic data and field records. The results show that the method provides a superior performance in random noise attenuation and fine structure preservation of reflection events compared to the original R-TFPF method with fixed WL.
