Design and optimization of automobile motion mechanism connecting seat cushion frame and seat back frame based on rear-end collision

Abstract: A new mechanism connecting seat cushion frame and seat back frame of automobile is designed using the instantaneous center principle of four bar linkage mechanism. The important design parameters, such as notch angle, notch clearance, notch curvature and friction coefficient are optimized using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) method. The feasibility of the mew mechanism is verified through rear-end collision test.
