Smoothing-finite element method for representation and differentiation of discrete experimental data

Abstract: Based on the theories of optimal approximation and data smoothing,a method to represent the discrete experimental data and calculate the derivatives of the experimental data in full measuring region is proposed in the paper.A functional is set up according to Lagrange multiplier method,and solved by finite element method and Newton iteration method.The derivatives at any point in measuring region can be interpolated on the basis of FEM solution.Smoothing processing is realized in the method and the influence of measuring errors on the calculation of derivatives is eliminated.Effectiveness of the method is illustrated by application to numerical test and to Morié data processing.
