Numerical simulation and experimental study of oxygenenriched combustion of LPG boiler

Abstract:

The numerical simulation method suitable for the liquefied petroleum gas(LPG) boiler was found by review and analysis of various kinds of the mathematical models of the combustion process in the boiler. Based on the method the numerical simulation was performed for the combustion process of the oxygenenriched LPG boiler using the computational fluid dynamics(CFD) software. The temperature fields, the combustion species concentration fields, the formation levels and the districbutions of NOx under different oxygen concentrations were obtained. The relationships among the temperalure field, the species concentration field and the NOx concentration as well as the combustion efficiency and the NOx emissions versus the oxygen concentration were found. Detailed experimental studies were also performed for the combustion process of the oxygenenriched LPG boiler. The comparison between the calculated results and the measured data showed their agreement by and large. The study is of theoretical and practical importance for the engineering design of the oxygenenriched combustion equipment.
