Microstructure and mechanical property of the welded joints for high-speed train bogie

Abstract: In the method of side welding molding, the S355J2W steel and weathering steel of 09CuPCrNi-A were welded with welding robot by metal active-gas welding using domestic welding wire of H08MnSiCuCrNiⅡ. Tensile, hardness and metallographic tests were carried on the welded joints we got to study the mechanical properties and microstructures of those joints. The results show that the tensile strength of welded joints was better than base material. The favorable mechanical property can meet the need of localization. Microstructures in the welding seam of the two kinds of steel are similar. The weld microstructure of S355J2W steel consisted of lath ferrite and granular ferrite as well as proeutectoid ferrite with a little pearlite and granular bainite, while 09CuPCrNi-A steel consisted of lath ferrite and needle-like ferrite as well as proeutectoid ferrite with a little pearlite and granular bainite.
