Paralleling IEC function blocks in distributed control systems

Abstract: The pipeline parallelism was employed for IEC61499 compliant distributed control systems. Paralleling strategies for IEC function blocks in single-loop and complex control systems were proposed respectively. An illustrative example was presented, highlighting the advantages of the proposed strategies. Compared with conventional control systems with centralized controllers, IEC function block based on distributed control systems with pipeline parallelism provides shortened sampling period, which results in better control performance.
