Abstract:

Abstract:Objective To investigate the relationship between 5-HT gene polymorphism and violent behavior. Methods The techniques of PCR and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) method were used to detect the genotypes of rs6296 site of 5-HT1B gene and rs6314 site of 5-HT2A gene in  92 prison staff (case group) and 101 normal controls (control group) .The association between the polymorphisms of 5-HT gene and violent behavior was analyzed with SPSS 13.0.Results The genotypic frequencies of the 2 SNPs didn’〖KG-*3〗t deviate from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium  both in case and control groups(P>0.05).The allelic and genotypic frequencies of the 2 SNPs had no remarkable difference between case and control groups  (P>0.05).Conclusion The polymorphism of rs6296 site of  5-HT1B gene  and rs6314 site of 5-HT2A gene  may
be not associated with violent behavior.

Key words: violent behavior, 5-HT gene; , polymorphism, single nucleotide
