Calculation and analysis of internal characteristics of torque converter-coupling

Abstract: The internal characteristics of the torque converter were calculated from its tested external characteristics by the method of proration. The distributions of energy loss and static pressure in each impeller under the typical working conditions were calculated after determining the circulated fluid flow. Taking the type of 4L60ED245 torque convertercoupling for an example, the internal characteristics calculated by the suggested method were compared with those calculated by the onedimensional theory, showing that the precision of the results calculated by the method of proration is higher, while the pressure variation trends at the inlet and exit calculated by both methods are similar.
